Collection: Cockade Ribbon Button Brooches

The Cockade Ribbon was originally an ornamental embellishment that was added to a mans hat during the French Revolution. Later in history they were  used to broadcast identification with such various organizations as a political party, a military unit, or a household (in the form of livery). In the 1920s women would make them to decorate their own hats. I love embellishing these brooches with a antique button from my 30 year old button collection. Enjoy!
