Blue and Purple Hand Felted Heart Brooch edition #15

This blue and purple multi coloured heart felted pin is the fifteenth brooch I created, edition #15.

This button is from the late 20th century when women's fashion included buttons on their garments. The center of this button has a floral steel cut facet that is laid on an iridescent green carved shell that is laid in a carved steel rim. The work that it took to create such a beauty floors me. These buttons were expensive in their time. They were considered precious. Circa 1890s.

To create this brooch I work with coloured carded wool fleece, needle felting the wool  into a unique design.  It is then hand sewed and beaded with a lock brooch pin on the back.

The dimensions are: width = 2" and the length 2 1/8".
